Cozy Vibes & Big Flavors in Lappeenranta
Sometimes the best festivals are the ones that keep it small and cozy — but still bring huge flavors. And that’s exactly what made Lepra Beerfest such a treat this year. The festival is organized by Tuju Brewery, now for the second time. I hit the road Friday morning, cruising from Tampere to Lappeenranta — sunglasses on, not a cloud in sight, what an amazing weather. About 3.5 hours later, I rolled into Rakuunamäki just in time for the festival gates to open — and I’m glad I didn’t miss a minute.
Lepra isn’t your average beer fest. Hosted by the legends at Tuju Brewery, it’s intimate, relaxed, but yet a hint of crazyness packed with quality. You can walk from the city center in 10–15 minutes, and once you’re in, it's all about the beer and the people behind it. You’ve got big international names like Outer Range, Dry&Bitter, Mad Scientist, Tuletorn and Cult of Oak pouring side-by-side with Finnish heavy-hitters like Salama, Revenant, Coolhead, Temperance and Tuju themselves. The setup had that perfect mix of energy, the kind where you’re chatting with brewers one minute and sipping something wild the next.
Hazy IPAs, barrel-aged madness, crisp lagers, funky brews — you name it, it was pouring. The variety was huge, and the quality? Even better. Whether you’re a hophead, a sour fan, or just beer-curious, Lepra Beerfest had something for you. When the hunger hit, you could dive into Tuju’s heavenly pizzas — or grab some proper BBQ from the outdoor food cart.
It’s personal, passionate, and full of heart. One of those festivals where you don’t just leave buzzed — you leave inspired. Already counting the days till next year.
Kippis, Lappeenranta & Tuju! 🍻
