Brewventure in Berlin!

A few months ago, I received an invitation I couldn’t resist: an invite to the first-ever International Beerfriends Gathering in Berlin. Of course, I was all in! I packed my bags, booked my flight, and little did I know, this trip would turn into one of the most memorable craft beer travels!
Friday: Kicking Off the beerfriendsgathering!
My journey started with an early morning flight from Tampere, Finland, landing in Berlin just after 8 AM. First up? Breakfast and coffee – gotta fuel up before the beer adventures begin! Afterwards, I met up with some of the group, and the weekend officially kicked off.
The crowd was a mix of beer geeks, influencers, brewery staff and label designers from all over the world. Some familiar faces, others I only knew from Instagram. It was amazing to finally put faces to names and accounts, and to talk beer with people who share the same passion.
The first stop on Friday was BrewDog Berlin Mitte – a lively spot to start things off with some delicious brews and food. Next, headed to Kaschk by BRLO, a cozy place to try a few of their brews, followed by Mikkeller Berlin. This is where the fun began! We started sharing beers, and the first share of the weekend was an absolute gem- 3 Sons Brewery’s- White Out, a blend of imperial stout and barleywine aged in apple brandy barrels. What a way to kick things off!
Next, we ventured to Bier Laden, a cozy, lively bar with an impressive selection of German beers. I went straight for the Bocks, which were absolutely delicious. The night wrapped up at Muted Horn, a super cool spot where we shared some bottles from Bottle Logic Brewing (such an epic brewery!). By this point, my energy was starting to wane after the long day of travel, so I decided to call it an early night. I stayed at the NUMA Apartments – a great choice! The check-in was seamless, and the location was perfect, just a short walk from Checkpoint Charlie and super close to the U-Bahn. Ideal for getting around the city.
Saturday: Brewery Tour & Brews
Saturday began with a relaxed breakfast, followed by a stroll around the city. I discovered some amazing wall art and explored parts of Berlin I hadn’t seen before. The real fun started at 1 PM, when the whole group met up at Fuerst Wiacek Brewery. I’ll save the details of that tour for next week’s post, but trust me – you won’t want to miss it! After the tour and a few beers (of course), we grabbed some food and headed to Biererei – easily one of the best craft beer pubs I’ve ever been to. The atmosphere was so chill, and the beer selection? Unbeatable. We’re talking Messorem, Central Waters, Anchorage, Perennial, Third Moon and Brasserie du Bas-Canada ON TAP– it was a craft beer lover’s dream come true. The vibe was electric, and everyone was having the time of their lives.
Beer geeks united by our shared love for great brews, and the conversations flowed just as smoothly as the beer. It's rare to find a place where the beer, service and people come together so perfectly, but Biererei nailed it.
Sunday: A Relaxed Day Before Departure
Sunday was a bit more relaxed. I had some free time before my evening flight, so decided to check out BrewDog Dogtap Berlin with a few of the guys. This place is massive! I grabbed a flight with a selection of IPAs, NEIPAs, and sours – the perfect way to round out the trip before heading to the airport.
Looking Forward to the Next One
This trip was more than just a few days of beer tastings – it was an experience, an opportunity to connect with beer lovers from all over the world, and a reminder of why I love the craft beer community so much. We all agreed we need to make this an annual tradition, and I’m already looking forward to the next one – meeting new faces and sharing even more delicious brews.
Until next time, cheers to great beers and even better company!
P.S. Stay tuned for next week’s post, where I’ll dive deeper into the Fuerst Wiacek Brewery tour and the amazing beers we got to try there!
